Bitget FastAPI Signature Algorithm Upgrade (MD5withRSA → SHA256withRSA)

Dear Partner,

Bitget is upgrading the FastAPI request-signing algorithm from MD5withRSA to SHA256withRSA, to align with the industry standard used by Binance and Bybit. This notice explains the change and the action required on your side—please share it with your technical team.

This is the only change. The signing payload, parameter concatenation, RSA key format (PKCS8, 2048-bit), Base64 encoding, and all existing validations (timestamp, IP whitelist, clientId) remain exactly the same. Only the hash algorithm changes.

On your side, simply change the hash in your signing and callback-verification code from MD5 to SHA-256. In Java, this is one line: replace Signature.getInstance("MD5withRSA") with Signature.getInstance("SHA256withRSA"). Other languages follow the same principle. Estimated effort is under one hour plus testing.

The transition is phased to avoid any disruption. SHA256withRSA goes live on November 3, 2026
From November 3 to December 3 both algorithms are supported in parallel. Migration is handled one broker at a time: once you switch and confirm with us, we disable MD5withRSA for your account individually.

From December 4 to December 10 we send final reminders.

On December 11, 2026, MD5withRSA is disabled globally and only SHA256withRSA is accepted—any request still signed with MD5 after that date will fail.

We will provide updated documentation and code samples. Please notify us once your migration is complete. For any questions, contact your Bitget representative.

Thank you for your partnership.
