Bitget CFD sub-accounts are live: Feature guide
To help institutional clients, professional trading teams, and high-net-worth users manage multiple strategies and isolate positions more effectively, Bitget CFD now supports sub-accounts.
With this feature, you can activate separate CFD trading sub-accounts under your main account. You can use sub-accounts to test different quantitative strategies or assign distinct trading permissions, providing a highly flexible account management experience. Read the following feature details and guidelines carefully.
Who can use this feature?
- Supported account types: Standard sub-accounts and standard virtual sub-accounts.
- Prerequisites:
1. The main account must have activated CFD trading for the sub-accounts to be eligible.
2. Sub-accounts do not require separate identity verification. The identity verification and risk control status of the main account will automatically apply. - Account limit: By default, each main account can enable CFD trading for up to five sub-accounts.
How can I enable CFD trading for a sub-account?
The activation process is simple:
- Log in to your Bitget sub-account and go to the CFD trading page.
- Select Create MT5 account.
- Read and agree to the MT5 Trading Agreement. The system will then assign an independent MT5 ID and generate dedicated passwords, completing the account setup immediately.
Before trading: Key rules for sub-account transfers and password management
To protect your funds and account permissions, sub-accounts follow separate rules for fund transfers and password resets. Note the following rules:
1. Before you trade: Complete a two-step transfer
When a sub-account first activates CFD trading, its initial balance is zero, and it cannot trade.
Note that you cannot transfer funds directly from the main account to a sub-account's CFD account. Transfers are also not supported between the CFD accounts of different sub-accounts.
You must follow the two-step process, and only USDT transfers are allowed (both inbound and outbound transfers are rounded to two decimal places):
- Step 1 (performed in the main account): Log in to the main account and transfer funds to the sub-account's spot account (or unified trading account).
- Step 2 (performed in the sub-account): Log in to the sub-account, go to Assets→CFD, and selectTransfer. Transfer the funds received from the sub-account's own spot/unified trading account to its CFD account. You can start trading only after this step is completed.
2. Password reset can only be performed in the main account
For permission-control purposes, CFD password resets are not supported through sub-account logins.
- Reset path: Log in to the main account → go to Assets→CFD→ locate the relevant sub-account and selectDetails→ reset either the master password (trading access) or the read-only password (view-only access) → provide the new password to the sub-account user.
(Note: If the sub-account's CFD account is inArchivedstatus, you must firstactivateit before resetting the password.)
3. Risk notifications are sent separately
Notifications regarding fund changes, liquidation warnings, and other risk-control measures for a sub-account are sent by default only to that sub-account's email address, site message inbox, and app push notifications.
Ensure that the actual user of the sub-account logs in and reviews these notifications promptly to avoid missing important risk alerts. If you want these notifications to be sent to the main account as well, enable the
Where can the main account manage all sub-accounts?
The main account acts as a super administrator and can centrally manage all sub-accounts.
- Asset management: Under Assets→CFD, the main account can see the activation status and MT5 IDs of all sub-accounts, view asset summaries such as the balances, equity, and margin ratios, and reset passwords.
- Order management: Under Order management→CFD orders, the main account can monitor each sub-account's open orders, order history, and fund/transfer records.
Account archiving and deletion - Account archiving: An MT5 account may be archived if it remains inactive for an extended period. Once archived, it must be restored through the activationprocess before trading can resume. After successful activation, it is recommended that you transfer some funds before trading.
- Account cancellation/deletion: Before you delete a main account or a sub-account, the system will automatically verify whether there are any assets or open positions in its CFD accounts (including all sub-accounts). You must handle all assets and positions before proceeding with account deletion.
