Bitget CFD leverage rules during special trading periods
2026-07-18 08:00267
To strengthen risk management and ensure trading stability during periods of high volatility, Bitget CFD will implement temporary leverage restrictions on certain products during specific market sessions. This mechanism aims to reduce risk exposure during extreme market swings and maintain a robust trading environment.
Scenario 1: Before and after major economic data releases
Temporary leverage restrictions will be applied to relevant instruments around the release of significant macroeconomic data.
| Aspect | Description |
| Effective time | From 15 minutes before each data release until 5 minutes after the release |
| Scope of impact | See the table below for the applicable data types and affected instruments |
| Leverage and margin | See the leverage limit table below |
Applicable data types and affected instruments:
| Category | Indicator | Affected instruments |
| USD-related | FOMC interest rate decisions, CPI, PMI, PPI, GDP, PCE, retail sales, Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP), ADP employment | Forex, gold, silver, indices, commodities |
| Oil-related | EIA Crude Oil Inventories | Oil |
| Non-U.S. economies | Key macroeconomic indicators, including CPI, PMI, and GDP | Forex |
Scenario 2: Daily market opening and closing
The maximum leverage for all trading instruments will be reduced during periods of lower market liquidity.
| Aspect | Description |
| Effective time | The 30 minutes before market close and the 30 minutes after market open on each trading day (Monday to Friday) |
| Scope of impact | All trading instruments |
| Leverage and margin | See the leverage limit table below |
The following leverage limits and margin requirements apply to both scenarios above. Please note that maximum leverage may still be temporarily adjusted based on actual market volatility.
| Instrument | Maximum leverage | Margin rate |
| Forex | 1:200 | 0.50% |
| Gold | 1:100 | 1.00% |
| Oil | 1:100 | 1.00% |
| Indices | 1:100 | 1.00% |
| Silver | 1:50 | 2.00% |
| Commodities | 1:5 | 20.00% |
Execution details
-
The leverage limits described above are part of a recurring mechanism and take effect automatically.
-
During a special period, if there is any position change in your account, including opening or closing positions or modifying take-profit or stop-loss orders, the required margin for all positions will be recalculated based on the applicable special-period leverage limits and margin rates. Please ensure your account has sufficient margin before each special period. Bitget CFD will not issue separate notifications.
-
Leverage will automatically return to its original level after the adjustment period ends. Assess your position risk in advance and manage your positions accordingly.
