Opinion: Market risk appetite declines ahead of the Federal Reserve FOMC, with options settlement and hedging resonance amplifying volatilityBlockBeats news, on June 16, leveraged product researcher degentrading stated that ahead of the US Federal Reserve FOMC meeting, the current position is suitable for reducing holdings — this short-term weakness is to be expected. After all, the market experienced a large-scale short squeeze rally yesterday, and as FOMC hedging positions are established, some degree of market weakness is normal. From a longer-term perspective, this current pullback in US stocks may be the last opportunity to increase exposure before the market faces the “uncertain hurdle of FOMC”; afterwards, the market is expected to continue moving higher, climbing over this “wall of worry.” Due to the shorter trading week and the convergence of FOMC and options expiry (OPX), market volatility is expected to increase significantly. Note: On Thursday at 2:00, the US Federal Reserve FOMC will announce its interest rate decision and Summary of Economic Projections; at 2:30, Federal Reserve Chair Powell will hold a monetary policy press conference. On Friday (June 19), the New York Stock Exchange will be closed for a day in observance of Juneteenth.
