Five northeastern provinces in Thailand conduct joint crackdown on illegal Bitcoin mining farms, confiscating more than 300 mining machinesChainCatcher reports that Thailand's Ministry of Interior, together with provincial power authorities, police, and local administrative officials, carried out a joint enforcement operation this Saturday across five provinces in the northeast: Ubon Ratchathani, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Roi Et, and Maha Sarakham. The operation inspected 14 locations and seized a total of 315 cryptocurrency mining devices. Investigators found that those involved had supplied power to the mining machines by tampering with electricity meters and through illegal connections. The total estimated loss is 40.38 million baht (approximately $1.227 million), including 5.38 million baht in penalties for power violations and around 35 million baht in unpaid electricity fees. All relevant evidence has now been collected, and authorities have filed suits against those involved.
