Forex CFDs
Bitget Forex CFDs cover major currency pairs such as EURUSD. You trade price differences rather than taking actual delivery of the currencies themselves, allowing you to go long or short on global exchange rate movements with USDT—without opening a forex account or holding physical foreign currency.
Difference from spot forex: Spot forex typically requires actual currency delivery or trading through a traditional forex broker account. Forex CFDs do not involve underlying asset delivery, with profits and losses settled in USDT. They also offer higher leverage and two-way positions (Hedge Mode).

Margin level calculation
Margin level = (Account equity ÷ Used margin) > 100%. Only USDT is supported as margin. The account does not support sub-accounts, but supports two-way positions (hedge mode).
50% liquidation stop-loss line
Liquidation is triggered when the margin level falls below 50%; when holding multiple positions simultaneously, the "highest loss first" rule is followed, meaning the position with the largest loss is liquidated first.
Negative balance protection
When a negative balance occurs in the account, it is automatically reset to 0, and users cannot manually adjust it; however, if it is determined to be malicious negative balance arbitrage (blacklisted for NBP), automatic compensation will not apply.
Leverage multiplier selection
The leverage preset cannot be manually adjusted. Before selecting, it is recommended to clarify the maximum loss ratio you can tolerate, and then work backward to find the appropriate leverage tier, rather than directly choosing the highest multiplier.

Step 1
Account Registration and KYC Verification
After completing identity verification (ID + proof of address + facial recognition), you can open a CFD account. The App version must be Android/iOS 2.72.0 or above.
Step 2
Transfer Funds to the CFD Account
The CFD account is independent of the spot/funding account and does not support direct deposits or withdrawals. You need to transfer USDT from the spot/funding account via the "CFD Assets" page.
Step 3
Select a Trading Pair and Place an Order
Supports market orders, as well as four types of pending orders: buy limit, sell limit, buy stop-loss, and sell stop-loss. You can choose the appropriate order type based on your market judgment.
Step 4
Manage Orders
You can track all account trading activity across 5 pages: Current Positions, Open Orders, Completed Orders, Canceled Orders, and Transaction History.
Step 4
Understanding Slippage
Slippage refers to the difference between the expected execution price and the actual execution price. Common causes include order delays, sudden price changes, and insufficient liquidity. Please note: once limit orders and stop-loss orders are triggered, they will be executed as market orders, so slippage may also occur.
Step 4
Set Stop-Loss and Take-Profit
It is recommended to set stop-loss and take-profit simultaneously when opening a position, or use a trailing stop-loss to keep losses within your acceptable range, rather than waiting until it approaches the 50% liquidation line to take action.
What is the difference between CFDs and stocks?
What is the difference between CFDs and stocks?
Summary in one sentence: Stocks = Holding assets / CFDs = Trading price differences / Futures = Trading contracts / Options = Trading rights

Stocks
Represents actual ownership of company equity, potentially enjoying dividends/shareholder rights. The focus is on "holding assets," suitable for those looking for long-term investments.

CFD
Does not hold the underlying asset, only trades the price difference. It usually has no fixed expiration date and requires no handling of delivery or rolling over positions. The focus is on "trading volatility," suitable for those who want to trade short-term and trade in both directions with less capital.

Futures
Standardized contracts with fixed contract specifications and expiration dates. They may require rolling over positions and delivery rules, making the process more complex than CFDs.

Options
In addition to directional judgment, it is also affected by the expiration date, strike price, premium, volatility, and time value, making it the most difficult to understand among the four.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is CFD trading?
A CFD (Contract for Difference) is a financial derivative where you do not hold the underlying assets but only trade the price difference. You can go long or short on the price fluctuations of assets such as forex, gold, crude oil, and stock indices.
Your profit or loss depends on the difference between the opening and closing prices, without needing to actually hold or deliver these assets.
Your profit or loss depends on the difference between the opening and closing prices, without needing to actually hold or deliver these assets.
What is the difference between CFDs and stocks?
Stocks represent actual ownership of company equity and may provide dividends and shareholder rights. Their core purpose is "holding assets." CFDs do not involve ownership of the underlying asset; instead, they profit from price differences. Their core purpose is "trading volatility." Choose stocks if you want to invest long term and hold assets; choose CFDs if you want to trade short term in both directions with less capital. See the "Difference Between CFDs and Stocks" section above for details.
What is the margin ratio for Gold CFDs / Forex CFDs?
Margin Level = Account Equity ÷ Used Margin × 100%. Falling below 50% will trigger liquidation. Forex and precious metals (including gold) share the same leverage tier (up to 500:1) and commission rates ($6 per lot / $5.4 per lot for VIP3+). The margin required for a specific instrument at a given time varies based on the leverage multiple and position size. Please refer to the real-time display in the App.
What is the difference between forex CFDs and spot forex trading?
Spot forex typically involves actual currency delivery or relies on traditional forex broker accounts; forex CFDs do not involve underlying delivery, settle profits and losses in USDT, offer higher leverage (up to 500x), and support two-way positions (hedge mode), making the operation closer to the habits of crypto perps traders.
How should I choose the CFD leverage multiplier?
The higher the leverage, the larger the position that the same margin can control, but losses are amplified proportionally, and a smaller price movement is needed to reach the 50% liquidation threshold. It is recommended that you first determine the maximum loss percentage you can tolerate, then work backward to select an appropriate leverage tier rather than defaulting to the highest multiple. Leverage presets cannot be manually adjusted.
How exactly are Bitget CFD transaction fees calculated? Are there zero transaction fees?
It is not literally zero transaction fees. Commission = number of contracts (lots) × commission per lot. Forex/precious metals are $6 per lot (VIP2 and below) / $5.4 (VIP3+), commodities/oil are $3 / $2.7 per lot, and various index categories are as low as $0.09 per lot (HKTECH index, VIP3+). Compared to the crypto perps market, the cost is already at a relatively low level. Note: Transaction fees are not included in the opening margin verification and will be deducted directly from the balance, so please reserve a sufficient balance.
What are the CFD trading hours? Can I trade on weekends?
Quotes and trading start synchronously with the opening of the underlying market and end early before the market close (2 minutes early from Monday to Thursday, and 3 minutes early on Friday). The last 5 minutes before the market close enter a close-only mode (positions can be closed but new positions cannot be opened). Saturdays and Sundays are for market closing; quotes and trading are not provided. The system default timezone is UTC+2 (UTC+3 for daylight saving time) and cannot be changed.
