Bitpanda launches Vision Chain for institutional tokenization in Europe.

Bitpanda, a cryptocurrency exchange backed by Peter Thiel, announced the launch of Vision Chain, a layer-2 network based on Ethereum aimed at institutional infrastructure in Europe. The goal is to offer an environment that combines the transparency of public blockchains with the regulatory requirements of the traditional financial market.

Developed in partnership with the Vision Web3 Foundation and built on Optimism's technology, Vision Chain is designed to operate in compliance with regulations such as MiCAR, MiFID II, and DORA. The network also uses euro-based fees, which helps reduce the impact of volatility and facilitates adoption by financial institutions.

According to Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad, CEO of Bitpanda, the initiative seeks to resolve structural limitations that still hinder the expansion of tokenization in Europe. "With Vision Chain, we are introducing a public blockchain built with the European regulatory framework at its core," he stated.

The network's proposal includes allowing institutions to move from the testing phase to large-scale operations while maintaining access to the global Ethereum ecosystem. Jing Wang, CEO of Optimism, highlighted that the solution utilizes the OP Enterprise model, which offers complete support for infrastructure management and updates, reducing operational complexity for businesses.

The Vision Chain is also part of a broader Bitpanda ecosystem, which includes a non-custodial wallet, cross-chain liquidity aggregator, web3 launchpad, and the Vision token (VSN). The asset performs functions such as governance, rewards, and network participation.

Furthermore, the network's economic model foresees periodic token buybacks, withdrawing part of the supply from the market and linking the growth in usage to the potential appreciation of the asset. Staking also appears as an additional incentive for long-term users.

In the competitive landscape, Bitpanda seeks to differentiate itself from proprietary solutions developed by large banks, which operate in isolation. The strategy relies on a public network with a regulatory focus as an alternative to expand interoperability and liquidity.

The initiative reinforces the company's transition to the institutional segment. Through Bitpanda Enterprise, the company already serves partners such as N26, Deutsche Börse Group, and European banking institutions, while preparing for a possible IPO in Frankfurt later in 2026.
